Mrs. McKinney was born and reared in this county in Flatrock Township near Clifford, where she spent all her life with the exception of the last three years when she went to stay at the soldiers home in Lafayette. She was a member of one of the oldest families in the county, her father having been the late Col. Lee, who was one of the early settlers here. They located in Flatrock Township where there were but few families and very little cultivation. Throughout her life Mrs. McKinney lived near the old homestead and owing to her long resident there she became a very well-known woman.
She was a life long member of the Methodist Church and an active worker in the church during her earlier days. She was a good woman, lived a Christian life and her many beautiful characteristics endeared her to all who knew her. Throughout her life she was an admirer of the Masonic Order.
Three years ago Mrs. McKinney expressed a desire to go to the soldiers home to live and stated at that time that she wanted to live just three years longer and this wish she saw fulfilled. She was taken ill only a few days ago of ailments due to her advanced age which caused her death.
Two sons, T. G. McKinney and James McKinney, both of Clifford, survive as do a sister, Mrs. Melissa Perry of Clifford. T. J. McKinney departed this morning for Lafayette.
