Note: The second child and oldest son of G.M. and Linny Cloyd. He spent his entire life in Howard Co, MO, most of the time in the vicinity of his birth near Boonesboro. He was a farmer, m. three times and raised a large family of children. 11-3- ?? he m. Mrs. Lutesia Cason Miller, youngest dau. of Geo. Cason of Howard Co. She was b. abt. 1814 and had one dau. by her first marriage, named Mary Miller, who m. a Lyons. He m. his second wife, Sarah J. Minor, 1-18-1848. She was a sister to Mary Minor who m. Jackson Cloyd. His third marriage was to Mrs. Martha A. Maupin, 11-16-1887. He was a man of powerful physique, six feet two inches tall and weighed two hundred pounds. He was in feeble health for several years on account of a nervous breakdown, or pareses, and died in the State Hospital at Fulton, MO.

Cloyd, born May 23, 1891 in Glasgow, Missouri, came to Billings, Montana in 1913 and worked as a farm machinery salesman in Billings and Livingston, Montana. He moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1923 with his wife, Sally, and small son, Ralph. Two other children were born to the couple while they lived in Sheridan; Martha Belle (Mrs. John Larabee of Spring Valley, California) and Richard (now of El Cajon, California).
Finis was employed by Ryan Sheridan Wholesale for a short time, then became a salesman for the Scales Motor Company and became well known to many people in the Sheridan area and southern Montana by selling them Model T and later, Model A Fords. In later years, he was manager of the Farm Implement Sales and Service for the late George Scales. At this position he became an endeared friend to many a rancher of this area, always lending a helping hand when they called on him.
Finis was an ardent fisherman and hunter, enjoying the Big Horn Mountain until his health failed and he moved to California in 1949 and died in San Diego in 1951. His widow still lives there.
