Victoria -- A lifelong Victoria resident, Clemens Hammerschmidt, 77, died Thursday at Hadley Regional Medical Center. He was a retired railroad worker.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Schmidt, Hays, Mrs. Ted (Celestine) Riedel, Victoria, Mrs. Fidelis (Albina) Schmidt, Plainville, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Bresaw, Wichita, Mrs. Romuald (Evelyn) Walters, Dodge City, Mrs. Richard (Hubertine) Stecklein, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Elmer (Dolores) Mermis, Russell; one son, Elmer, Satanta; one brother, Servilian, Victoria; 40 grandchildren and 33 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; two brothers, one sister, three half-brothers and three half-sisters.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Church, Victoria, with burial in the church cemetery. There will be a parish wake service, with the Daughters of Isabella joining, at 8 p.m. Sunday at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Friends may call at Cline's until service time.
