MRS. PEARL McKELVIE BRIGGS.

Mrs. Pearl McKelvie Briggs was born near Fairfield, Nebraska, in Clay county (sic), July 13, 1886. Here she grew to womanhood and formed a large number of acquaintances who grew into firm and fast friends as naturally as a twig grows into a tree.

In July 1904 she was married to Ralph Young of Lincoln. After about two years Mr. Young died, leaving the wife and a little daughter, Ruth.

In February 1909 she was married to Herman Briggs, who was also a lifelong Clay county (sic) boy. Here Mr. and Mrs. Briggs lived until two years ago when they moved to Bosler, Wyo., where Mrs. Briggs died March 10, 1918. Her illness was of less than a week's duration and although the best of care was given her at the hospital at Laramie, nothing could be done to remove the trouble.

Wherever Mrs. Briggs was known she was loved. Her tender, sympathetic nature, and her warm, genial disposition made her a favorite and won friends for her who became tried and true. Above all she was a homemaker. Her life was devoted to her husband and children in a beautiful way and she lived for their welfare and comfort.

She was a believer in Christ and the Son of God and as he Redeemer and her life was lived in harmony with that belief. She was a member of the First Christian church (sic) of Clay Center, and was active as a member of the Royal Guards Bible school class.

The deceased leaves a husband and five children who will miss her tender ministrations. She also leaves a father, mother, two sisters, and five brothers, who were all present at the funeral except the brother, Otis, who lives in California.

The funeral services were held in the First Christian church (sic) of Fairfield and were very largely attended. The floral offerings and the large number of people attending from Clay Center was a fitting tribute, and indicated the esteem in which she was held. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, M.E. Miller, of Kearney, Neb., and the body laid at rest in the Fairfield cemetery (sic).
