Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company B, 3rd Iowa Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Columbus, Georgia on April 16, 1865. His citation reads simply “Capture of flag and bearer”. His Medal was awarded on June 17, 1865.
