John Kay Thompson died in his home January 1, 2011. He was born March 3, 1937 in Chickasha to Royce Thompson and Lillie Bowring. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann (Hannon); 6 children (Julie MacGowan, Beverly Goodnight, John, Beth Hucks, Joni McGlynn, Shelly Contreras); 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. He graduated Del City High School in 1955 and served in the Air Force 9 years. His wife & children believe this is not a time to mourn but to rejoice, because the Lord God Almighty has allowed one more soul to enter Heaven, not because he at one time was a Deacon; not because he worked in the bus ministry; not because he taught Sunday School; not because he had an active prayer life, not because he read his Bible through every year; not because he faithfully attended First Southern Baptist Church in Ontario, Oregon in his last years, but ONLY because (while he and siblings Leon, Bill, Mary, Sandra lived in the Baptist Children's Home in OKC when he was 16), he confessed his sins to God and asked Jesus Christ to come into his heart and be his personal Lord and Saviour. Hallelujah! Praise God! Blessed be the name of the Lord! Contributions in his memory may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering at any Southern Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Midwest City in early Spring.
