On the 1940 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found medical Dr. Joseph E Seebert, 48, VA born; wife Frances B Seebert, 47, NY born and son Calvert T Seebert, 13, VA born. They still resided at 508 S. Main Street.
1952: Joseph E Seebert, etc., to Walter D Seebert and wife, 1 acre, more or less fronting on South side of U.S. 60. Per the Lexington Gazette, Vol 152, #13, dated 26 Mar 1952.
"Dr. Seebert Dies Here At Age 66 - Dr. Joseph Eldred Seebert, 66, Lexington physician, died early Friday morning in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Dr. Seebert was born in Rockbridge County Nov. 8, 1891, a son of Calbert Trent Seebert and Mattie Strain Seebert. After graduating from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia in 1915, he interned at City Hospital in New York. Dr. Seebert saw extensive service in Europe during World War 1. He attended the Army Medical School in Washington and then sailed to England where, while retaining his American Army status, he was attached to the British Welsh Fusileers. He saw service in France and Belgium during the hard fought battles. Returning to Lexington after the War, he started the practice of medicine in the spring 1919. In June of that year he was married to Mrs. Seebert, a native of New York, who survives him. In recent years Dr. Seebert had spent considerable time- in West Virginia, where he had practiced Seebert in various coal mining camps. He was a Mason and a member of the Rockbridge County Medical Society. Surviving, in addition to his wife are a son. Dr. Calbert T. Seebert of Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. E. M. Starr, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Mrs. William H. Boyden and Miss Margaret Seebert, both of Lexington; also a brother, Walter D. Seebert, Salem. A graveside service was held Saturday at 3 p. m. in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery by the Rev. Douglas C. Chase and the Rev. David T. Lauderdale. Dr. Calbert Seebert of Baltimore was present for his father's funeral." Per the Rockbridge County News, Vol 74, #48, dated 2 Oct 1958, p 1 and 3 (see photo).
