At the time of his fathers death he was still under age, he and his younger brother, Nathaniel, choose their Uncle Edward Adams as their guardian. He inherited the homestead 1/4 mile south of the lowest water privilege on Bogistow Brook in Medway.
He married, 19 July 1688, Bethia Twitchell and 2nd he married, 20 June 1710, Sarah Adams.
In later years he was considered a Separatist and contributed to the establishment of the Baptist Church at Medfield. He was styled Rev. for his speaking at public gatherings but there is no evidence that he was ordained.
He was the father of eight children; Bethia, John, Joseph, Samuel, Deborah, Benjamin, Hezekiah and John.
