-- GREAT FALLS - John Thomas "Johnny" Blackwell, 70, died Thursday at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Winnsboro, S.C.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Heath Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Greg Batchelor and the Reverend Mike Sollers officiating. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dantzler- Baker Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackwell was born in Great Falls, S.C., on March 14, 1941, a son of the late Carl Blackwell and Louise Brunson Blackwell. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Blackwell was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens as an overseer and was former owner and operator of M & M Truck Stop of Great Falls, S.C. He was also a long distance truck driver.
Mr. Blackwell is survived by two sons, Steve Blackwell and Jeff Blackwell; one daughter, Melissa Moss; two sisters, Eunice Carter and Frances Temple all of Great Falls, S.C.; one brother, Bobby Blackwell of Blackstock, S.C.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
