Pioneer Citizen and Civil War Veteran Died This Afternoon.
Joseph Davidson, 87, died at his home at South R and Twenty-first streets at about 12:30 this afternoon from the infirmities of age. Mr Davidson has lived in or near Elwood all his life and is among the best known residents of his section. He is a veteran of the civil war.
In addition to his wife, Rachel Davidson, the deceased leaves four children, Henry, John and James Davidson, all of Elwood and vicinity, and Mrs. Jane Coppick of Kokomo.
Mr. Davidson was born near Elwood and was married to his present wife at Anderson nine years ago.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Gospel Workers church Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. Doyle in charge. Burial will follow in the city cemetery. (Elwood Call-Leader, 12 August 1919)
