Services will be this afternoon for Rachel Sturgeon. Mrs. Sturgeon died Friday, July 5, 1992, at the Brown County Community Care Center. She was 85. She was born August 28, 1906, in Brown County to Cecil Deckard and Rosetta Sinn. She married Harley Sturgeon, and he died in 1970. Mrs. Sturgeon was a homemaker and a member of the Belmont Pentecostal Church. Survivors include three sons, Charles Sturgeon of Belmont, James Sturgeon of Nashville and Cecil Sturgeon of Trafalgar; three daughters, Dorothy Ruble of Columbus, Mary Doris Bay of Nashville and Lois Stephens of Bloomington; three sisters, Mary Bond of Nashville, Ella Shields of Nashville and Stella Dewar of Columbus; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Frank Gott is to conduct a service at 1 p.m. this afternoon in the Bond-Mitchell Serenity Chapel on State Road 135 North. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery.
