A memorial mass of Christian burial for Robert C. Haynes Sr., a North Portland resident, will be at 8 am Monday in Holy Redeemer Catholic Curch. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery.

He did of respiratory problems Sunday in a Portland hospital at the age of 78.

He was born June 1, 1914 in Chicago. He lived in Chicago and Wisconsin before moving to the Portland area in 1952. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War 11 and in the Korean War.

Mr. Haynes worked as a painter for the state of Oregon during the 1950's and 1960's. He then did maintenance work at the Villa St. Rose in North Portland for a number of years u til his retirement during the late 1970's. Mr. Haynes was a meme ear of Hooy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; son Robert C. Jr., of Wilsonville; brother, Daniel of Sacramento; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrance be contributions to a favorite charity.
