In 1955 she moved with her family to Brazil, Indiana, where she completed nurse's training and went to work first at Clay County Hospital and later at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was respected and well-liked by co-workers and patients alike. She was a member of Staunton Christian Church. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, afternoon visits with her friends, and church activities.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
Surviving are her son and daughter and their spouses, Jim and Julia Thistle, Brazil, and John and Nancy Ibberson, of Riley; one sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Dorothy Baird of Cleveland; three sisters-in-law, Ellen Thistle, Sistersville, Mary Robinson, Sistersville, and Veronica Thistle, Ashland; three grandchildren, Jim Thistle and wife Gail, Nashville, Tennessee, Sarah Thistle, Cincinnati, and Christopher Ibberson, Riley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Services will be Saturday at 2:00 pm at French Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Parkey officiating. Visitation will Saturday from 11:00am to time of service. Burial will be Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville West Virginia.
