Deaths

Died, at his lodgings in the city of Philadelphia, on the 3d instant, William Tunstall, Esq. of the county of Pittsylvania, aged 64 years.

He had visited that city with the expectation of receiving surgical aid -- But how vain are all our expectations -- we know not what an hour may bring forth -- and have again brought feasibly to our minds, the fact, that "in the midst of life we are in death."

Mr. Tunstall has been for more than 40 years the Clerk of the courts of his county -- has been most happy in his home, his children and his friends -- indeed, all were his friends -- and, in him, the poor and needy have to deplore the loss of a man whose best feelings were always enlisted in their cause, and whose hand was ever ready to minister to their wants -- society has lost a a fixed star, and the State of Virginia a most worthy citizen.
