Karen K. Spiekerman, age 74, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at her residence in Tupelo, Oklahoma. Karen Kay (Greenwood) Spiekerman was born January 7, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Charles and Faith (Dunn) Greenwood. She was raised in Sidney, Iowa where she graduated with the class of 1954. She was united in marriage to Donald Spiekerman on June 10, 1960 in Saginaw, Michigan. They lived in Michigan, Georgia, and southern California before retiring to Oklahoma in 1998. While in California Karen was a substitute teacher. While living in Oklahoma, Karen was involved in the Lutheran Church where she was on the scholarship committee and enjoyed arts and crafts. She was also involved with the local Fireflies Volunteer Group.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Donald Spiekerman; and daughter Elizabeth Spiekerman. Survivors include her children: Dr. Penny Spiekerman and husband Tom Landers of Sandwich, Illinois; Dr. Jill Spiekerman and husband Ted Wagner of Milwaukee, Wiscsonsin; and Roger Spiekerman of Emerson, Iowa; grandchildren: Siri Landers and Braedon Landers; sister: Bev Paprocki of Keizer, Oregon; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. George Hooper officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Emerson Volunteer Fire Department.
