OBITUARY from Johnstown Tribune Democrat on July 25, 2001 - FREDERICK JAMES FEES, JR. FEES - Fred J. Jr., 78, Nokesville, Va., native of Carrolltown, passed away July 20, 2001, at Northern Virginia Community Hospital.

A 1940 graduate of Carrolltown High School and had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. For the past 42 years, he had been a resident of Prince William County.

Mr. Fees was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 22 years, having retired in 1963, with the rank of major. He was a naval aviator and his numerous decorations included the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. Life member of VFW Post 2102, Wardensville, W.Va., and American Legion Fox-Peale Post 506, Carrolltown. Past post commander of Nokesville VFW Post 10621. Member of Marine Corps League. From 1964 to 1970, Mr. Fees owned and operated EZ Cruz Marine Supplies in Triangle, Va., and later Woodbridge, Va. He was a life-long outdoorsman, target shooter and a National Rifle Association life member and certified master instructor. Served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Shooting Sports Association. Mr. Fees was al­so chairman of the 4-H Northern District Shooting Commission and was founder of the Trigger-Time 4-H Shooting Club in Nokesville and served as chairman of Prince Wil­liam County Solid Waste Citizens Advisory Committee.

Preceded in death by parents, attorney Fred J, Fees Sr. and Thelma M. (Sharbaugh) Fees; sister, Julianna (Fees) Garrett and infant sister, Mary Fees. Mr. Fees was the widower of Edna M. Fees. Survived by sister, Mrs. Marilyn Caldwell, Carroll­town; four children; and five grand­children.

Family has requested that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to All Saints Catholic Church building fund, 9300 Stonewall Road. Manassas, Va. 20110-2545 or Virgin­ia 4-H Shooting Education Program, c/o Director Prince William Cooper­ative Extension, 8033 Ashton Ave., Suite 105, Manassas, Va., 20109.

Visi­tation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Blasius Baker Funeral Home, Manassas, where prayer service will be held 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Manassas, Father Joseph Kenna officiating.

Interment will be held at 3 p.m., August 8, at Arlington National Ceme­tery with full military honors.
