He was born March 18, 1910 at Silver Lake, son of the late Joseph and Theresa Brunner Waniger. He attended St. Joseph’s School in Silver Lake. He was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding for 40 years. He also farmed in the Town of Cato for many years. He and his wife moved to St. Nazianz in 1957 where they operated Waniger’s Standard Service. He married Mary Siegel, June 12, 1931, at St. Joseph’s Church, Silver Lake. He was a member and past President of the St. Nazianz Lions club, a past member of the ST. Nazianz Village Board and a member of St. Gregory’s Holy Name Society. Since retirement Art enjoyed his hobby farm, gardening, playing cards and helping his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Francis and Alice, St. Nazianz, Charles, Manitowoc, Thomas and Carol, Valders; three daughters and sons0in-law, Rosie and Jerry Kiefer, Boulder, Colo., Faye and Leo Riesterer, St. Nazianz, Meg and Jerry Post, St. Nazianz; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Lori, Howards Grove; one sister, Mary Wolf, Des Plaines, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Ann; a daughter-in-law, Lois; two grandchildren; seven brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders is serving the family. A memorial has been established in his name.
