Son of Capt. Daniel Weisiger III and Lucy Price Weisiger & named for his father's brother, Joseph was the first European male born in Frankfort, KY, after Kentucky separated from Virginia. A Christian and an 1817 Grad of Philadelphia College of Medicine (U. of Pa.), he married, Susan Lewis Rochester, the dau of John Rochester III in 1817 by whom he had 7 children. Joseph & Susan's portraits were painted by Jouett. She died of cholera ca 1834.

In 1837 he married "the widow Clay" 13 Jul 1837 in Crab Orchard, KY, and afterward built "Warwick Hall" in Danville, Ky.

1. Reed Nelson Weisiger CSA b: 2 MAY 1838 in Danville, Boyle Co., Ky.
2. Samuel Price "Sam" Weisiger II, CSA b: 7 OCT 1839 in Danville, Boyle Co., Ky.
3. Robert Alexander Weisiger CSA b: 30 NOV 1841 in Danville, Boyle Co., Ky.

Isabella d. 1852, first buried on Weisiger plot in Danville, later reinterred on Clay-Keene lot in Paris, KY.

His 3rd wife was Alethia Ann Glover dau of Allan Glover of Demopolis, AL. She had been married previously with no known children. They were married in Frankfort, KY, on 3 Nov 1852. They moved to Texas and a number of his children & stepchildren accompanied them in their ca 1853 move to a ranch in Mission Valley, to Victoria Co., Texas. His mother, Lucy Price Weisiger, left Frankfort to live with him in Texas, also. The marriage of Joseph & Alethia produced no children.
