Robert R. Riley Sr., 79 of Independence, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born March 22, 1923 in Howesville, a son to the late Walter H. and Effie (Plum) Riley.
He was employed by the Island Creek Coal Co as a coal miner. He was a member of UMWA Local 2478 and the Newburg Senior Center. He was, also, a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Gladesville.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Triplett Born Riley; four sons and spouses, Robert R. and Norva Riley Jr of Graham, Russell J. and Debra Riley, of Tunnelton, Franklin B. Riley of Morton, PA., John A. and Delisa Riley of Tunnelton, two daughters and spouses, E. Jean and Earl Zirk of Thomas and Kathryn A. and Delbert Lyons of Tunnelton; a stepdaughter Carol Nicholson; a brother and spouse, Willis J. and Thelma Riley of Tunnelton; 13 grand children, Regina and Roby Riley, Angela, Lisa and Kristy Zirk, Angel and Julie Lyons, Richie, Michael, April and Amanda Riliey and Benjamin and Andrew Riley; three step grandchildren, Freddie, Amanda and Chris Nicholson; 12 great grandchildren, Jaceen, Josh, Bethany, Megan, Ryan, Ashley, Amber, Alexis, Shawn, Saige, Gaith and Carmen.
He was,also, preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Boggs Riley; five brothers, Junior, Daniel, Charles, Harry and Richard Riley and a sister, Carrie M. Riley.
Friends may call at browning Funeral Home in Kingwood from 7-9 pm Thrusday; 4-9 pm Fruday and on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 form 10-11 am, the funeral hour, with Paston Jack Riley officiating. Internment in Maplewood.
