His Mother: Mary Mollie (Molla) Melton 22 Jan 1886 Afton, Oklahoma County, Ok.
Married Edith Farnsworth Patterson of Oklahoma City in 1938.
He joined Chase Bag Company in 1939 as a Salesman.
Served in the Canine Corps of the US Coast Guard Reserves/US Navy and became
a well-known Trainer of war dogs during WW2; assigned to LST (Landing Ship Tank) 775 which earned four battle stars for World War II service.
He performed across the US showing his trained War Dogs to bring awareness to the public.
After the war he Trained German Shepherds for show and became a Breeder and Judge for Westminster and the American Kennel Club. In addition he trained dogs for guiding the blind and was associated with Guiding Eyes for the Blind and others.
He continued his career with Chase Bag Co and in 1945 became Sales Manager of the Toledo, Oh branch. In 1958 he was elected VP in charge of the Paper Bag Division.
Next he was made Vice President & Director of Sales and went on to be elected to the Board of Directors.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio in the 1950's. After moving to Greenwich, Ct in the late 1950's he became a member of the Tamarack Country Club where he and his family often played golf.
He and Edith have 1 adopted son William Richard Ayers.
He has another son - Richard Douglas Ayers from his marriage to Clara Douglas.
