Last place of residence was Shreveport, Caddo parish LA June 1880 census.
On the 25th of May 1840 in Orange co VA he married Elizabeth Frances "Bettie" Coleman born 1822 in Orange county.

To this union, three daughters were born. Cornelia Adeline/Addie Cornelia Samuel Brockman Coleman 1841-1881. Olivia Samuel 1843 to ?. Caroline Virginia Samuel Coleman 1847-1909. Elizabeth and her daughters were not counted in the 1860 census. It will never be known why he left his children in Orange county.

Trenton was in Shreveport in 1860. There he married, on the 19th of Feb 1862 Miss Rebecca Ann Berry born in LA in March 1845. She was the daughter of James M Berry from Weakley county TN. Both of her parents died before she was 10.
To this marriage there were two children; Lillian E Samuel 1868-1900 and a son, G. D. Samuel born in 1869 who died before 1880.

Rebecca Ann Samuel married Howell Carlo Willis in Shreveport 5 Jan 1882; a man 13 years younger from Georgia. He moved on and she then marries a Jas. S. McConnell in Shreveport 27 Feb 1887. Her daughter, Lillian married Isaac Newton Tanner in Cass county, Texas in 1884. Rebecca was residing with her son-in-law in Cass county on the 25 of June, 1900 census with her remaining 7 Tanner grandchildren who are all shown to be born in Texas. That is the last record found for her. The Tanner's are buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Vivian, Caddo Parish.

Trenton's two surviving daughters married in Orange county and there were several grand children.

Cornelia Adeline Samuel married Lucien Tandy Brockman in 1863 he was born in 1841 died in 1864 in the civil war. She then married Reuben Lindsay Coleman in 1867. They had one daughter, Maude Samuel Coleman Woolfolk 1868-1949.

Caroline Virginia Samuel married in 1866 to Littleton Luther Coleman, 1841-1927. They had Elizabeth "Bettie" Byrd Coleman 1868 married Alfred Pendleton Brockman 1861-1920. Stanard W Coleman 1873. Reuben James Edmund Coleman 1876-1947, never married. Addie Cornelia Coleman 1881-1947 married John Williams Lanford. Her children; Stanard Franklin Lanford 1906-1955, John W Lanford Jr 1907-1972. Caroline C Lanford Vickery 1911-1983. Cornelia Samuel Lanford Goodwin 1914-2002. Reuben Coleman Lanford 1917-2003. Adeline Rives Lanford Waugh 1920-1977. Richard Byrd Lanford 1924-2015.

Carrie E Coleman 1894-1980 married Richard Wallace Waugh in 1918. They had no children.

One could wonder if the daughter's left behind in Virginia knew about their father's life in Louisiana ?

Annie B 1885, Henry Trenton 1887, Lillian 1890 married a Daniels, Bessie 1893 married a Waldorf, Viola 1894, Fannie 1897 and Isaac Newton Jr 1899-1934. One of the girls married O A Ballard and moved to Strong, AR and one married Leo Isles.
