Singer and songwriter. He is best known for co-writing "Tennessee Waltz" with Frank (Pee Wee) King who recorded the song in 1948. Stewart who sang with King's band, had only a 7th grade education, but wrote other songs such as "Soldier's Last Letter", "Slow Poke", and "You Belong to me".
