I believe that Cora misrepresented her age consistently after moving from New York State to Missouri in 1886. Cora's correct birth year appears to be 1855 from repeated census data through 1880 as follow:
1860 Auburn, Cayuga Co., NY - age 4
1865 Sterling, Cayuga Co., NY - age 9
1870 Sterling, Cayuga Co., NY - age 14
1875 Sterling, Cayuga Co., NY - age 19
1880 Sterling, Cayuga Co., NY - School Teacher, age 24, in her father's household
The following news items show Cora as a mature woman by 1884, the year of birth shown on her gravestone.
