Born July 15, 1954, in Dover, James was a son of the late Charles E. and Ada C. (Holtzapple) Dentler.
He was a 1972 graduate of Dover Area High School. James had 38 years of service for York Casket Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Blain Sportsman Club and Dover Fish & Game. His passion was gardening and he received many blue ribbons at the York Fair for his entries. In addition to his wife,
James is survived by a son, Charles J. Dentler and wife, Karla of Manchester; two brothers, Robert L Dentler and wife, Linda of Dover, and Thomas E. Dentler and wife, Sally of Shiloh; a sister, Cathy A. Auman and husband, Daryl of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend James' funeral service at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Stanley Reep, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, York. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Patient Help Fund c/o York Health Foundation, 50 N. Duke St., Second Floor, York, PA 17401.
