Bossier City, LA - Services for r. Claude Lynn Acklen, 76, of Bossier City, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday May 4 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. The Rev. Don Logan, pastor, and the Rev. Joan Mobley, associate, of Broadmoor Assembly of God, will officiate. Graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Athens, La. Mr. Acklen died Thursday May 2, 1985, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Athens, La., had been a resident of Bossier City since 1921, and was retired retail salesman at Foster Coffee Co. Mr. Acklen was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Highland Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia "Pat" Acklen of Bossier City; two step-sons, George Scaife of West Monroe, La. and Robert Scaife of Shreveport; one sister, Gatha Smith of Shreveport; a sister-in-law, Mary Acklen of Archibald, La.; one brother, Alvin Acklen of Shreveport; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Floyd Walsworth, Robert Shaw, Bill Babers, Johnny Scaife, Robert Scaife, Robert Scaife Jr., Austin Mobley and Bill Morrison. (The Shreveport Times, Shreveport, LA, May 1985)
