He graduated from Chisholm High School in 1943 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He lived in California, Arizona and Germany before returning to Chisholm in 1983. He moved to Little Canada in 1987. He worked as an insurance salesman and had previously worked for 3M. He was a World War II Army veteran, and served in the European and Pacific theaters
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1022 in Hibbing and life member of VFW Post in Eaton Rapids, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ludwig, in 1964 and sister Eleanore Erbstoesser in 1986.
Eugene is survived by his son Andrew L.; daughters: Amy (Dale) Garrow and Audrey Adamic; one grandson; mother and step-father Jennie and Albert Samsa; step-brothers: Al Samsa, and Jerry (Ruth) Samsa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Chisholm Cemetery.
