Frank W. Aurelius,87, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Springfield, died Jan. 15 at Life Care Center, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mr. Aurelius was born in Springfield, living here until 1995 when he moved to Scottsdale. He was a retired vice-president of American Savings and Loan, prior to which he was secretary of Springfield Savings and Loan. He received a 50-year service award from the National Savings and Loan League.

He served as chairman of the Sangamon County Red Cross from 1958-1960 and was a member of its board of directors from 1963-1969. He was also a member of the board of directors of the YMCA for 18 years, serving as treasurer from 1950-1951, president from 1951-1953, roundup big boss in 1962 and chairman of the new building committee from 1956-1967. He also served two years on the board of directors of Lincoln Library.

He was a member of the Illinois Area Council of YMCA's, National Council of the YMCA's of the USA, Third Presbyterian Church, having served as trustee, elder and treasurer, Optimist International, as well as the Evening Optimist Club, having been a past president.

Survivors: two daughters, Jeanne Cameron of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Joanne Locke of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Aurelius of Springfield; four nieces; and a nephew.

Memorial Services: Third Presbyterian Church.
