She had been a resident of the nursing home in Hayti for a number of years.
Born in Derby, Indiana, August 16, 1877, she was the daughter of the late Viril and Martha Jarboe Ash. She moved to Pemiscot County in 1898.
Mrs. Avis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where services were held Tuesday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Ernie Marquart officiated. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Avis, and eight children. One son, Walter P. Avis, survives as do 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
