Nancy Ann Aven, 77, of Saginaw, died Friday afternoon, March 15, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare, Cooper Campus in Saginaw, surrounded by her family. She was born May 26, 1935 in Vassar, daughter of the late Jesse and Ida (Johnson) Beecher. Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Vassar High School. On August 22, 1955 she was married to Roy W. Aven. He survives her. She was a very active member the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese, where she was a member of its Ruth Circle, the Banner Ministry, The Linus Project and the Block of the Month Quilting Clubs. She was a former Volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital in Saginaw and played Euchre with the neighborhood woman for over fifty years. She farmed with her husband Roy for many years and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their cottage on Lake Huron. Her other enjoyments included camping, fishing and traveling.
Surviving besides her husband Roy are her three daughters, Louann Felske; Carol Erickson and her husband Terry; and Sharon Bierlein and her husband Jeff; five grandchildren, Joseph Bierlein and his wife Lisa; Erik Felske and his wife Melissa; Tyler Felske; Jacob Bierlein; and Liza Erickson; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Blake Felske. Also surviving are her two sisters, Thelma German and her husband Don; and Doris Evans. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her son-in-law, Kenton Felske and her brother, Henry Beecher.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Tom Senge will officiate with committal services to follow in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. Nancy's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese or the Unity District Library in Reese.
