Ewald “Wally” Blumenschein, 84, of Marysville, died Monday morning, June 15th, at Memorial Gables. He was retired from Westreco.

During his younger years, he attended St. Johns Lutheran School as well as Chuckery Darby High School. A lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, he served on the Board of Properties and enjoyed playing dartball with the church members. He was a licensed locksmith and, in his spare time, loved woodworking, gardening, and playing the piano, especially playing the hymn, “How Great Thou Art”. He was also in the Navy reserves, and an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan.

Wally was born April 11, 1931 in Marysville to the late John and Edna Rausch Blumenschein. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Blumenschein Jr.; and brothers-in-law Roger Morley and David Baughman. He married the former Patricia Ann McNeal on May 6, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia; their children Linda (Greg) Etter of Cloverdale, David (Janie) Blumenschein, Dan (Melanie) Blumenschein both of Marysville, and Tricia McMunn of Delaware; grandchildren Jennifer (Eric) Kline, Heather (Bill) Maag, Kevin (Heather Hitchcock) Etter; Bryan Blumenschein, Ann Blumenschein, Lindsay Blumenschein, Chris Blumenschein and Rob Blumenschein; great-grandchildren Trent, Ayden, Garrett, Lane, Jordyn, Haylee, Harlow, and Myles; siblings, Marge Morley, Dorothy Baughman, and Pearl (Susan) Blumenschein all of Marysville; many nieces, nephews, and his faithful and loyal dog, Bella.

Calling hours will be 1-3 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Ingram Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Jack Heino officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In Wally’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Johns Organ Fund in care of the funeral home.
