Alice E. Brinkman Hommen Ballweg, age 84, passed away on Feb. 2, 2007, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. Alice was born on Nov. 9, 1922, in Madison, the daughter of the late William and Amelia (Johnson) Brinkman of Madison.
She graduated from Madison East High School. She worked at Webcrafters and Oscar Mayer.
She is survived by her two sons.
On Dec. 16, 1972, she married Werner Ballweg and joined his family of nine children. They were blessed with 30 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren with four more on the way, her three sisters, sister and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and Edward Brinkman, brothers-in-law Wilfred Hensen, and Jim Ackerman.
Alice was a very loving and caring person - you would have to be to take on nine children and love them as she did! She loved to travel, dance, read, fish and plant in her own special wild flower garden. Her grandchildren remember her chasing squirrels away from the hickory nut trees and having to help her pick up the nuts. She loved krumkakas, lefse and lutafisk.
