Thelma Betty Jane Byrd Boyd, age 66, of Pine Creek, Virginia, passed away Friday (November I5, 2002) at her home. Born December 11, 1935 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late William Charlie and Rosa Whin Byrd. A lifelong resident of the area, she was formerly a cook for Givens Elementary School and Headstart. She was a member of the Pine Creek Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ruth Boyd, four sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Junior Boyd of the home; one daughter, Wanda Vance and her husband, Carlos of Horton Ridge; four sons, Chris Boyd of the home, Gary Boyd and his wife, Teresa of Swords Creek, Jimmy Boyd and his wife, Carrie of Swords Creek, and Michael Boyd and his wife, Lisa of Davis Mountain, Virginia; two sisters, Emily Brown and Delora Richardson both of Swords Creek, and one special niece, Doris Whited of Swords Creek; one brother, Curt Byrd of Pounding Mill; two grandsons, Adam Boyd and Matthew Boyd; one granddaughter, Angela Boyd; one step-granddaughter, Hannah Brown.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am Monday in the Pine Creek Holiness Church with Rev. Jim Richardson and Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment followed in the Richardson Cemetery on Horton Ridge. Relatives and friends served as pallbearers. Honaker Funeral Home was in charge.
