"John W. Chase, aged 84, of Schenevus, died Sunday, December 27, in his home after a long illness. Mr. Chase was born October 30, 1880, in Schenevus, the son of Julian F. and Rose (Bennett) Chase. He married Lucy Boyce on June 2, 1906, in Roseboom. Mr. Chase was employed as a forest ranger for New York State and also was a farmer. He had lived in Schenevus all his life. He was a charter member and past master of the Schenevus Valley Grange, had been Grange district deputy for a number of years, was past master of Pomona Grange, past supervisor of the Town of Maryland and past member of the Schenevus High School Board of Education. He was also a member of the Macabees and the Schenevus Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Bley of Kenmore, Buffalo and Mrs. Georgia Mills of Greenville, S. C.; a son, Richard Chase of Lake George; two sisters, Miss Lillian Chase of Albany and Mrs. Mae Cummings, Centrla Islip, L. I., and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, December 29, from the Bennett Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev.
