"SCHENEVUS - Julian F. Chase, eighty-one years of age, a man well known in this vicinity, passed away at his home on South Side at about 6 o'clock last Monday evening. Although he had been in failing health for the past two years, his death was a shock to friends and relatives. Mr. Chase was born in this village on February 9, 1851. He was the son of Samuel G. and Mary Chase. In his younger days he attended school at the Schenevus academy and later taught in schools about the vicinity. On February 9, 1876 he was united in marriage with Rose A. Bennett, who survives. He is also survived by three children, John W. Chase of this village, Lillian C. Chase of Albany, and Mrs. L. H. Cummings of New York City; also four grandchildren, Richard, Ruth and Georgia Chase, and Beulah M. Cummings. Private funeral services were held from his late home in this village last Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock, the Rev. W. E. Webster officiating. Interment was made in the Schenevus cemetery ..."
