Irene Pellum Walker Dietz, of Walterboro, died January 10, 2006.

Born June 14, 1914, in Colleton County, she was the daughter of Joseph Benjamin Pellum and Annie Lou Warren Pellum. She was first married to the late Daniel Fonner Walker, Sr. and secondly to the late Robert John Dietz.

Irene was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, and was a retired landscaper, having worked on Fripp Island. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a hard worker. She will always be remembered for love of gardening and flowers.

Surviving are: her sons, Howard Walker and wife Hilda of Beaufort, George Walker and wife Gladys of Walterboro, and Donald Walker and wife Patsy of Walterboro; daughter-in-law, Rosa Lee Walker of Plattsmouth, NE; sisters, Lula Carroll of Charleston, Lois Bunton of Walterboro, and Jeannette Blackwelder of Columbia; brother, W.R. Pellum of Islandton; 22 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Daniel Fonner Walker, Jr., Edward Walker, and Furman Walker.

The funeral service was held at Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro, with interment following in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
