Priscilla Lena (Rowe) Drake, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2008 at her home in Albion, Maine with her husband, Freeland at her side. Priscilla was born in Albion, Maine on March 25, 1916 the third of six children of Charles and Annie Rowe. She attended Albion schools, graduating from Besse High School in 1934.
On June 17, 1937 she married Freeland Drake.
Besides raising her four children, helping with chores on the family dairy and chicken farm, tending her beautiful flower gardens Priscilla was an active community member.
She helped start the hot lunch program in the Albion schools in 1950, was a lifetime member of the PTA and a Founder's Day recipient. Priscilla was also a GAR member, a lifetime member of the Albion Grange where she held all offices over the years, a member of Albion Senior Citizens, was grand marshal with Freeland for Albion Field Days and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
She was known for her wonderful cooking, especially her famous yeast rolls. Priscilla's joy was her family especially her loving, caring husband of 71 years, Freeland.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Edward and Stephen; and her sister, Avonne.
Priscilla will be sadly missed by her husband, Freeland and their four children, Audrey Harding and her husband, Carroll of Winslow, Everett Drake and his wife, Gail of Albion, Janice Dyer and her husband, Henry of Greenville, and Hilton Drake and his wife, Cindy of Albion.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their families, Debra Shuckrow and her husband, Lee and their children, Lee and Nickolas; Jeffrey Harding; John Dyer and his daughter, Olivia; Joseph Dyer; Hope Dyer; Douglas Drake and his wife, Katie and their daughter, Madison; Timothy Drake and his wife, Devon and their daughter, Sydney; Stephanie Choate and her husband, Michael and their children, Nicholas and Nathan; and Travis Drake; her sisters, Meta Fowler and Giny Bradstreet; special cousin, Eva Clowater; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Winslow Chapel, 173 China Road, Winslow, Maine where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Spring burial will be at Number Four Cemetery in Albion, Maine.
