Mrs. Henietta Ducker Anderson, widow of the late Rev. Henry T. Anderson and
mother of Mrs. A. B. Rue and Mrs. J. B. Thompson of this place, died, January
17, 1897. The funeral was conducted by Dr. C.K. Marshall, pastor of the
Christian church and the interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born in
Frankfort, Ky., February 16, 1819. She was the second wife of the celebrated
scholar and divine, H. T. Anderson, and married in Hopkinsville, November 5,
1841; and became the mother of eleven children, Jessie, Harry, Mattie, Lucy,
Mary, Nettie, Louis, Willie. Lillie, Nanni, Zoe, Pickett and Charles. Mr.
Clarence Anderson and Mrs. Trabue were children of Mr. A's first marriage. In
1847, Mr. Anderson gave up the charge of the Hopkinsville Christian church and
became pastor of a large church in Louisville, In 1854 he resigned his city
charge to find a quiet place where he could devote his time to the translation
of the Greek Testament; and accepted a call from the Cane Run church, in this
county. He lived in this county (at now Burgin) with his family, for seven
years. At the time of his death, September 19, 1872, he was pastor of what is
now known as the Garfield Christian church, Washington, D. C. Since that time,
Mrs. Anderson has lived with her children. For several years she has been an
invalid and her death was not unexpected. She was conscious of her approaching
death and was ready and willing to go, for she was assured of receiving the
plaudit from he Redeemer, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
