Gwenivere M. Eastabrooks, 85, of Kearney died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Hanson officiating.

Burial was at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gwenivere Eastabrooks was born July 7, 1922 to Charles and Rose (Ellsworth) Swanson in Litchfield.

She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1940 and taught in the Litchfield and Pleasanton areas for one year. She moved to California in 1941 to be with her fiance.

In 1943, she married Wendell Eastabrooks in Yuma, Ariz. He died in 1997.

She worked at Cole's in Los Angeles and as a dietitian in the Los Angeles school district.

She and her husband lived in California until they moved to Kearney in 1984.

She loved dogs.

Survivors include four sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Leroy Lammers of Kearney, Phyllis and Wendell Rasmussen of Hazard, Bernadine and Alexander of Des Moines, Iowa, Patsy Aden of Bethalto, Ill. and a sister-in-law, Myra Snyder of Sheridan, Wyo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rodney; a brother, LaVerne; and a brother-in-law, Merle Aden.
