Annie Lou Goggans Freeman, 79, of Cullman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at her home in Cullman. She was a registered nurse for many years with Hartselle Hospital and continued to care for others even after her retirement. She was well known for her kindness and generosity toward others and was often heard whistling throughout the day. She was currently a member of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman and had been a member of Etha Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, sister and friend to many. She quietly lived her life using her Christian values to make a difference in the lives of people she loved.She was preceded in death by her parents, W.E. and Cora Self Goggans; and siblings, Gene Goggans, Wren Goggans, Chester Goggins, Clarence Goggans, Ruth Popwell and Sara Pratt.Survivors include her husband, Horace "Shorty" Freeman; two sons, George (Vicky) Freeman and Glenn (Leigh McWilliams) Freeman; and three daughters, Mona (Mike) Thompson, Karen (John) Messersmith and Ginger (Scott Bennett) Freeman. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and include Pat (Debbie) Freeman, Krissy Freeman, Nicholas Bartlett, Megan Bartlett, Brooklyn Thompson, Mallory Messersmith, Tommy Messersmith, Katie Freeman; and one special great-grandchild, Cole Freeman. Her surviving siblings include Clara Lackey, George Goggans and James Goggans were always very dear to her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
