Claudine Grant Dycus was the daughter of Dallas Claud Grant and Lena Beatrice McAfee Grant. She was born in Finely, Tennesse (just outside of Dyersburg). Claudine had three siblings with whom she was very close: James "Jimmy"; Dallas Claud "Junior" and Ernest Harrell Grant.
As a young girl, Claudine met and became best friends with Ruth Dycus, the younger sister of Howard Dycus. On March 15, 1935, and at the age of seventeen, Claudine married Howard Dycus, who was then a junior Electrical Engineering student at the University of Tennessee.
Howard and Claudine settled in Knoxville, Tennessee and had three children, a daughter and twin sons. On January 31, 1995, just weeks from their 60th wedding anniversary, Claudine's husband Howard passed away. Claudine passed away October 2, 2010 at the age of 92.
Claudine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an amazing southern cook, did beautiful needlework, and was the epitome of a "southern lady". She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is dearly missed and loved by her family.
