Ernest R Halme, 59, died Sunday morning at the Eli Hill home on Firesteel Rd. Ontonagon County Coroner Lyle Cane has ruled the death due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities have reported.
The deceased was born at Calumet on July 21, 1908, and moved with his family to Ontonagon when he was a child. He attended the Ontonagon schools and had been employed as a woodsman. He recently had been making his home with a son, Dennis, at Detroit and had been visiting at Ontonagon. He was a veteran of WW11.
Surviving him besides his son is a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Catanzarite, also of Detroit, 4 sisters, Mrs. Helga Nuquist of Livonia, Mrs. Sylvia Roberts & Mrs. Alfie Ballenbacker both of Detroit and 4 brothers, Wilho of Rochester, Ray of Ontonagon, Kenneth of Detroit, & Russell of Brimley.
Funeral services held at the Cane Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by the Ontonagon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Internment at Riverside Cemetery.
