Mrs. Jane I. Hubbard, age 81, died January 10, 2011 at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Fla. She was born in Peekskill, N.Y. and lived in Barefoot Bay, Fla. for 26 years retiring there from Danbury. She was employed as a machine operator with the National Can Company in Danbury having retired in 1984. Mom was active in her retirement as she enjoyed working almost until her death. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her many friends and was especially active in the Barefoot Bay Democratic Club. Jane was an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church where she served as an Usher. Survivors include her sons, John Robert Hubbard of Torrington, and Allen Henry Hubbard of Newtown; brothers, Lester Inness of Las Vegas, Nev., Jimmy Inness of Clearwater, Fla., George Inness of Danbury, Gabe Inness of Loudon, Tenn.; sisters, Jessie Plimpton of Tucson, Ariz., Helen Malloy of St. Joseph, Mo., Marion Nelson of Beacon, N.Y.; grandchildren, Amy Hubbard, Sarah Hubbard, Matthew Hubbard of Torrington and Allen Hubbard Jr., Mary Kate Hubbard, Michael Hubbard and Grace Hubbard of Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Saturday January 22, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may call in Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Luke's Catholic Church Discretionary Fund, 5055 Micco Rd. Micco, FL 32976 in memory of Jane Hubbard.
