Mrs. Johnson was born July 22, 1923, in Mayville, Michigan, the daughter of the late Cordin and Mary Frisbie Harbin.
Maxine was a 1940 graduate of Mayville High School, where she played the clarinet in the high school band.
During World War II, she was employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, later she worked at Betty Lee, and was a bookeeper for Stein's Dress Shop.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active as a Sunday School superintendant in the 1950's. Maxine was a Cub Scout den mother, enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, needle point, and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by, her husband, Allan Lawrence Johnson, whom she married on February 16, 1946 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage, Warren; a son, David Johnson, and his wife, Eileen, Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Chris Johnson and his wife, Heather, San Antonio, TX, Robert Johnson and his wife, Carrie, Bryan, TX, Julia Johnson, Houston, TX, and Michael Johnson, Auburn, AL; one greatgrandson, Cooper Johnson; several nieces and nephews; a sisterinlaw, Mary Johnson, Winter Park, FL; and two brothersinlaw, Glenn Hampbel and Howard Manwell, both of Michigan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Stella Schott Harbin; a sister, Pearl Hampel; two halfsisters Ila Manwell and Helen Esckelson; five stepbrothers and sisters, Ruth Schott, Lena Schott, Tanner Schott, Beatrice Schott, and Paul Schott; and a brother in law, Neal Johnson.
