HUGO WILLIAM KENT
Hugo William Kent, 74, of near Deep River, died this morning at Ruff's Nursing home at Knox following a lingering illness. He had been ill since 1950.
He was born at Tolleston, May 15, 1883. On Oct. 10, 1917, he married Anna Johnson of the Deep River vicinity.
He is survived by his widow; one son, James, Valparaiso; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Jenkins, Kalamazoo; eight grandchildren; one brother, Albert, Gary, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Blohm, LaPorte.
He was a member of the Porter County Farm Bureau and one of the first directors of the Farm Bureau Co-op, and served for several years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church.
He attended Valparaiso university, and is believed to be the last member of the posse which captured the noted Chicago car barn bandits in Tolleston in 1902, for which he received a reward.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the LePell Funeral home, where friends may call from Saturday at 4 p.m. until time of services. The Rev. O. W. Toelke, of the Immanuel Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
