Louisa Virginia "Lu" Lankford was the daughter of Cherokee, Laoise Martin b 1803 NC and died after 1880 in Henry Co TN. Thomas Lankford was born about 1797 VA and died between 1870 and 1880 in Henry Co TN. Louiza Virginia was the third wife of George Arnn, Jr. She instructed her daughter Louisa C "Lois C" (Arnn) Overcast and her grand daughters that she preferred being buried at the Foundry Hill RLDS Church Cemetery rather than near her spouse George who was buried between his first two wives at the Foundry Hill Baptist Cemetery just a few miles away. Louiza was one of the early members when the RLDS Church was founded in the Foundry Hill area of Henry County Tennessee in the late 1870s. Foundry Hill is named for the Foundry founded by George Arnn Sr and later taken over by his son George Arnn Jr who continued the foundry until his death between 1870 and 1880.

Louiza Virginia was the mother of three daughters and one son: All of her daughters were born and died in the rural area near Puryear, Henry County, Tennessee: Her one son was born in the area; however, his death is unknown. The children of Louiza and George W "Boss" Arnn also spelled Aron are:

1. Louisa Conlatha (Lois C) Arnn 1858 – 1938 married Daniel Cicero Overcast in 1875, they had 5 sons and 4 daughters all listed with eldest to youngest: George Franklin, John Thomas, Wm Rony, Joseph E, Robert Lee, Ruby Mary, Fannie Ethel, Alberta(Alberta died before her 5th birthday), daughter Anna Ruhama named her eldest daughter Virginia after Hama's ggrand mother Louiza Virginia.

2. Artetia O "Tishie" 1861-1943 married James Wilson in 1896 in Henry County, TN. They had no children.

3. Martha ClaraBell "Ludie Bell" 1962-1902 married her 2nd cousin James Thomas Bennett. James was the son of Mary Elizabeth (Lankford) Bennett, sister of Louiza Virginia (Lankford) Arnn who was ClaraBell's grand mother. Thomas and ClaraBell had three children: one son and two daughters: Thomas Warren "Jack", Annie Lee, and Nettie Bell. After the death of ClaraBell, James remarried and had two more children. ClaraBell is buried at the FH Baptist Cemetery.

4. Thomas Francis "Frank" was born about 1865 in Henry Co. In 1889 after he impregnated a young woman, Cora A Gore, in the area and refused to marry her, he left and never returned to the area. None of the descendants know of his whereabouts. Cora named their daughter Buner Thomas Gore Arnn. Later when Cora married Peter Seaton, her daughter Buner was given the name of her step father and became Buner Seaton.
When Louiza Virginia married George Arnn on 8 Sep 1857 she became the mother to the two sons of George "Boss" Arnn and Charlotte Lewry who died before 1857. These stepsons were: Docton Warren "Dock" born in 1850 and McKenzie born in 1854. These boys wrote several letters to their "Mar" and "Par" which were passed down through the generations to my maternal grand mother and upon her death my aunt found the letters and passed them to me.

Biological grand children of Louiza Virginia are 16 grand daughters and 17 grandsons. Stepson: Doctor appears to never have children, and McKenzie migrated back east to NC and Virginia and had at least 2 daughter and 2 sons.
For many years Louiza Virginia and her daughter Louisa Conlatha (Lois C) shared being widows. They were buried side by side and share a tombstone erected through the efforts of Lois's daughters Fannie Overcast Ross and Anna Ruhama Overcast Jimerson, with all their siblings paying equal shares. As a young child in the 1940s, I recall Fannie and Hama saying that they finally had the money for the tombstone.
Louiza Virginia Lankford was my gggrand mother. I am so glad that I know her history through my grand mother Hama and verified through my grand aunt Ruby.
The greatest accomplishment which Lu bestowed in her daughters and grand daughters is to love all children equally, biological and step children. They certainly have followed her example.
