McMINNVILLE — Jan Bennette, 68, died Monday. Cause of death was unavailable.

She was born in Wasco, moved to Portland in 1937 and to McMinnville in 1963. She was a bookkeeper. She married Dick in 1971. They sold Bennette Motor Co. in 1978 and worked in real estate for 20 years. She volunteered at Henderson House and was on the board of trustees.

She was a member of Soroptimist and National Society of Decorative Painters and was active in the Portland chapter of Raindrops. She was a member of Job's Daughters and the First Presbyterian Church. Her husband died in 1999.

Survivors include her son, Greg Robinson of McMinnville; stepsons, Joel Bennette of Newberry, Fla., Joseph Bennette of Salem, Marian Bennette of Lake City, Fla., and Richard Bennette of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Bev Skinner of Truckee, Calif.; two grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Visiting will be 4-7 p.m. today at Macy & Son Funeral Chapel. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Private interment will be at South Yamhill Cemetery. Contributions: Henderson House or Canine Companions, care of the mortuary.
