Eliza was the daughter of William Thomas and Lucinda Slaughter Poor McKinstry. She married James Robert Bright on 30 JUN 1904 in Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa.

Mrs. Jim Bright passed away at her home south of town Monday morning. About three years ago she had a stroke of paralysis from which she did not recover. On Sunday, August 5 she suffered a second stroke and died the following day. She leaves a husband, two daughters, two sons, and a step-son. The funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Shoemaker at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cockrum cemetery.
