Oveda (McSwain) Duncan, 95, of Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2005, at her residence.

Born in Earl, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edward McSwain and Mattie (Runyans) McSwain and widow of Hampton Holland Duncan.

Mrs. Duncan was a retired textile employee and member of Temple Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Henry Duncan and his wife, Louise, Ernest Duncan and his wife, Ellen, and Bobby Duncan and his wife, Diane, all of Gaffney; four daughters, Jean Humphries and her husband, Wayland, Linda Driskell, Doris Ann Destaffino and her husband, Norman, and Kathy Ruppe and her husband, Phillip, all of Gaffney; a daughter-in-law, Vermell Duncan of Gaffney; a special niece, Geraldine Butler of Gaffney; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Brown, and two sons, Edward Duncan and Richard Duncan.

Services were held Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Johnny Bridges and Scott Kierstead. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends, Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Blakely Funeral Home.

Memorials could be made to Temple Baptist Church, 1508 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, SC 29340.
