EL PASO, Texas - Charles T. Moneypenny, 437 Penroy Lane, El Paso, Texas, formerly of Bristolville, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, of an extended illness.

Mr. Moneypenny was born April 9, 1935. He was a son of the late Annabelle Neil Thomas and Delbert Ross Moneypenny.

During his lifetime, both in Ohio and in Texas, Charles enjoyed giving back to his community. With great pride, he has served 50 years as an active member of the Bristol Lions Club and also the Horizon City Lions, being the recipient of many distinguished honors and awards.

Charles also was proud to be a member of the Bristolville Volunteer Fire Department. When moving to Texas in 1984, he continued his service with the Horizon City Fire Department. He helped build a small department to what it is today.

When he retired from fire service after 50 years of volunteering, he had achieved the rank of fire commissioner.

While raising a family in Bristolville, Charles was active in the lives of his family. He was a Boy Scout leader, youth baseball coach, Lake to River Girl Scout Council volunteer, and most notably, one of the original members of the Bristol 300 Club.

Mr. Moneypenny enjoyed many activities in his spare time. Some of them being bowling (he was the singles division champion in the Ohio State Men's Association Tournament in the early '70s), and woodworking - he enjoyed making many gifts for friends and family.
