"Mrs. Agnes Ardery, mother of Mrs. A. J. Lowry of this city, died at her home in Virginia City, Nevada last Tuesday. Mrs. Ardery, was for many years a resident of Placerville and her remains were brought here for interment in Union Cemetery Thursday, being followed to the grave by a large concourse of former friends and neighbors. Deceased was a native of Scotland, aged 70 years. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom are still living, Mrs. Sarah Lowry of Placerville, Mrs. Aggie Congdon of San Francisco, Mrs. Maggie Ford of Watsonville, George M. Ardery of Virginia City, R. F. Ardery of IL, A. M. Ardery of Carson City and James C. Ardery of Virginia City. Four of these were present at the funeral, Mrs. Congdon having been with her mother for several weeks preceding her death."∼The cycle of time has again reaped another visit in the death of Mrs. Agnes Ardery. This estimable old lady, who has passed beyond the allotted time of three score years and ten, passed quietly away yesterday after an illness of six weeks from apoplexy of the brain. The deceased was a native of Scotland. and came to the country and covered the plains in 1862, taking up her residence in Placerville, California where she resided for a period of eight years. She then came to the Comstock and has resided here ever since.
Mrs. Ardery was the mother of A.E. Ardery, master of transportation on the V & T, and of Geo. M. and J.O. Ardery, watchman at the Knickerbocker in Gold Hill and Engineer at the Savage (mines) respectively, and of Mrs. Henry Congdon of San Francisco.
During her long residence on the Comstock her many amiable traits of character had endeared her to a host of friends whose heartfelt sympathy will be tendered the grief-stricken relatives in their hour of bereavement.
